Thinking About Becoming an S Corp?

If your buddy mentioned it, they might be onto something—but let’s get real: it’s not a one-size-fits-all move. S Corps can be a game-changer for creative entrepreneurs once you're making consistent profit. Why? Because instead of paying self-employment taxes on all your income, you only pay it on your salary. Saving you money on taxes. The rest? Comes to you as distributions, which aren’t hit with payroll tax. But hold up… it also means more structure, more IRS rules, and you’ll need to run legit payroll. That’s where we come in.

9

Can I Write This Off?

Let’s be honest, tax deductions feel like one big gray area when you’re a creative entrepreneur. Can you write off that new camera lens? What about your Canva Pro subscription, your home office, or that flight to LA for a shoot? If you’ve ever asked “Is this a write-off?” while Venmoing a contractor or buying a latte for a client meeting, this is for you. We’re breaking down the real deal on what you can (and can’t) deduct—so you can keep more cash and stay out of tax trouble.

10

Does Quickbooks really work for me?

Short answer. Not really. Long answer,  QuickBooks is fine if you're into clunky dashboards, generic templates and figuring things out alone. But, for reals… you didn’t start your creative business to become a part-time bookkeeper. At CORE Group we don’t work through QuickBooks and that’s intentional. Too many pitfalls too much room for error and honestly the cons outweigh the pros. We’ve built systems that actually work for creatives. Clear, simple and designed to keep you in your genius zone not buried in confusing software. You make the magic. We’ll handle the math…no QuickBooks required.
